Doctorate of Education in School System Leadership, TESOL & Dual Language Education

This program currently operates exclusively through a school district partnership with Prince George’s County Public Schools. As such, this program is not open to admissions for individuals outside of this partnership.

Given the substantial increase in Maryland’s multilingual learner population in all school districts, it is essential that school and district leaders know how to address all learners’ academic, linguistic, and cultural needs, across the curriculum. As the only professional doctoral program of its kind in Maryland specifically tailored for Maryland educators, we prepare department chairs, teacher leaders, principals and assistant principals, and central office personnel to make macro-level change in their school districts. Bringing together the fields of TESOL, Dual Language Education, and School System Leadership, students work towards a final capstone with the goals of implementing them into their schools and districts upon graduation.
We are always looking for new district partners! If you are a district supervisor interested in this program for teachers in your district, please contact Drew Fagan (dfagan@umd.edu) to inquire about developing a new partnership with your district!
