Kindergarten Study

Kindergarten Studies Project

The focus of Kindergarten Studies project is the development of self-regulation and social competence in kindergarten children. Currently, we work alongside private and public schools in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area and involve kindergarten students, their parents, and their teachers in our research. The general topics we investigate include: a) how children’s temperament, social storytelling, and ability to understand others’ emotions and beliefs relate to effective social interactions, b) how to interpret measures of children using a multi-rater and multi-method approach, and c) how children’s executive functions, emotion understanding, and temperament styles relate to their readiness for school.
