The Final Evaluation

The final evaluation conference can be a rewarding culminating experience for the teacher intern provided that there are no last minute surprises.  This conference includes a summative report of the performance criteria that has been considered and discussed during the student teaching period. This conference should result in the teacher candidate knowing his or her strengths and areas for continued growth.  It can also be a time to discuss the type of teaching position for which the candidate is best suited.

The final recommendation form should be completed by the university supervisor and mentor teacher and shared with the teacher intern during  a final evaluation conference during the last week of the teacher intern's placement.   With the consent of the teacher intern, this form will become part of his or her credential file.  The teacher intern must sign the form giving the College of Education permission to forward it to the Career Center.  You may also give it to the university supervisor.

We are requesting that you do this immediately.  The teacher intern will need this recommendation in order to be considered for a teaching position.  If you prefer to complete the recommendation on the computer, be sure to recreate the exact format of the original final recommendation form.  Please make a total of five copies.  Give the teacher intern and university supervisor a copy, keep one for your records and send two to the College of Education, Room 1207 Benjamin Building.  Make sure that all copies have been signed by you and the teacher intern.
