Teacher Education in the College of Education at the University of Maryland-College Park is committed to providing future teachers with exemplary preparation programs that foster the development of critical knowledge and skills needed to effectively teach all children and young people in our diverse society. Our programs are embedded in the mission of a research university and reflect the inter-relationship of research, teaching and service. Teachers who receive their preparation at the University of Maryland are particularly well prepared in subject matter knowledge gained through strong undergraduate academic coursework. Additionally, professional preparation includes rigorous and relevant coursework and field experiences that develop knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary for successful teaching careers.
