Dr. Sherril Moon, Project Faculty
Sherril Moon is a professor of special education at the University of Maryland. Her teaching, research, and service over the past 25 years have focused on the transition from school to adulthood, community integration, recreation, and employment of young adults with severe disabilities. She co-authored two of the first texts on supported employment and transition which were awarded the Book of the year Awards in 1989 and 1990 by the President’s Committee on Employment of Person’s with Disabilities. She has also published many other books, articles, chapters, monographs, and newsletters related to supporting people with disabilities at school, play, and work. Besides preparing teachers, she has provided training to professionals, advocates, and people with disabilities and their families in 27 states across the country. Sherril serves on many local, state, and national advisory boards and works as an advocate for students with disabilities and their families. In her spare time she loves to run, watch all sports, play with her four dogs, listen to all kinds of music, and spend time in her native Blue Ridge Mountains or at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
