Sherril
Moon is a professor of special education at the University of Maryland. Her teaching, research,
and service over the past 25 years have focused on the transition
from school to adulthood, community integration, recreation,
and employment of young adults with severe disabilities. She
co-authored two of the first texts on supported employment and
transition which were awarded the Book of the year Awards in
1989 and 1990 by the President’s Committee on Employment of
Person’s with Disabilities. She has also published many other
books, articles, chapters, monographs, and newsletters related
to supporting people with disabilities at school, play, and
work. Besides preparing teachers, she has provided training
to professionals, advocates, and people with disabilities and
their families in 27 states across the country. Sherril serves
on many local, state, and national advisory boards and works
as an advocate for students with disabilities and their families.
In her spare time she loves to run, watch all sports, play with
her four dogs, listen to all kinds of music, and spend time
in her native Blue Ridge Mountains or at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
