College of Education in the Top 25 for
ninth straight year in U.S. News & World Report rankings

Department of Counseling and Personnel Services ranked first in nation for ninth consecutive year

COLLEGE PARK, MD (April 2008) – For the ninth consecutive year, the College of Education has maintained its Top 25 ranking and is home to the number one Counseling and Personnel Services department in the nation. All of the college's ranked programs and departments are in the Top 15, with five programs in the Top 10, according to the U.S. News & World Report survey released on April 1. The college was rated the no. 25 top school of education in the country.

"We can be proud to count ourselves as one of the best colleges of education in the nation," said Interim Dean Donna Wiseman. "Our position in the Top 25 is evidence of the strength and dedication of our faculty and staff, the achievements of our students, and the high regard of our peers."

The following college departments and programs are ranked among the Top 10 in the nation:

• Counseling and Personnel Services department (1^st)
• Educational Psychology (7^th)
• Rehabilitation Counseling program (9^th—last ranked in 2004 in the Health category)
• Higher Education Administration (10^th)
• Special Education department (10^th)

Other college programs ranked in the Top 15:

• Elementary Education (12^th)
• Educational Policy (12^th)
• Secondary Education (14^th)
• Curriculum and Instruction department (14^th)
• Administration/Supervision (15^th)
