College of Education graduation ceremony set for Dec. 20, 2007

University commencement ceremonies to be held Dec. 19 at Comcast Center

COLLEGE PARK, MD (December 2007) – On behalf of the College of Education faculty and staff, Interim Dean Donna L. Wiseman will preside over the upcoming winter graduation ceremonies set for 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, in the Cole (Field House) Student Activities Building.

Approximately 239 students will graduate from the College of Education with degrees or certifications from one of the seven departments within the college. They will join the ranks of the college's distinguished alumni comprised of educators, entrepreneurs, administrators, counselors and professionals. As of Nov. 29 the breakdown for the December 2007 degree candidates is 227 graduate students (1 Advanced Graduate Specialist certificate; 170 master's; 56 doctoral) and 12 undergraduate students. Tickets are not required for the college's graduation ceremony.

The College of Education at the University of Maryland is ranked 21stU.S. News & World Report for 2008. The Department of Counseling and Personnel Services ranks 1st in the nation for the eighth consecutive year and the Department of Special Education ranks 10th. The college has nine ranked Educational Specialties plus one ranked Health Specialty, (Rehabilitation Counseling, ranked in 2004) for a total of ten Top 20 ranked specialties of which five are Top 10 rankings.
