College of Education plans events as part of the April 24 Maryland Day celebration
Come celebrate Maryland Day 2004 with your family and friends on April 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The College of Education participates in the annual university "open house" by hosting a series of events promoting learning, exploration, and community-building.
The college hosts a number of events for children in the Benjamin Building including face painting, a puppet show, knowledge games, sand art, storytelling, simulation games, creating cards for kids at the Childrens National Medical Center, and more. The Center for Young Children will host an Early Childhood Festival and an Alumni Reception at their center.
Information about the college and its programs will be offered at various tables in the College of Education Tent on McKeldin Mall. Visitors can explore career options in education, get help finding funds to pursue a teaching career, meet the college dean, associate deans and department chairs, and connect with members of the College of Education alumni chapter board of directors. The Maryland Literacy Research Center will also present information on their work.

10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Get Your Face Painted Just for Fun! 1315 Benjamin. What a better way to celebrate the day than with a Terrapin, flower, or animal painted on your face. Kappa Delta Pi, the education honorary, invites children to create cards of cheer for kids at the Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
