College of education Graduation Set For May 21, 2004

University commencement ceremonies to be held May 20 at Comcast Center

COLLEGE PARK, MD (April 2004) — On behalf of the College of Education faculty and staff, Edna Mora Szymanski, Dean, will preside over spring graduation ceremonies to be held on Friday, May 21, 2004.

The Graduation Ceremony for the College of Education will take place at 4 p.m. in the Cole Student Activities Building. This ceremony will also include special recognition of members of the Class of 1979 who are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their graduation, and members of the Class of 1954, who are celebrating the 50th anniversary of their graduation. These honorees will participate in the procession of graduates as part of the college’s Silver and Gold Anniversary Celebration.

A reception for just over 500 graduates and their guests will be held immediately following the ceremony in the area behind the stage. Special reception music will be provided by College of Education alumnus Stanley Galicki, (B.S. `70, M.Ed. `71)

The University of Maryland Commencement Ceremony will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2004, in the Comcast Center, with a reception following. Guests are advised to arrive no later than 6:30 p.m. to see the graduates process into the arena. Information about the university commencement has been distributed to graduates and their families.
