The morning of Nov. 12 was a beautiful day for a walk around campus. Around 20 individuals came out in support of the Phi Delta Kappa (PDK) Walk for Education to raise funds for the PDK Educational Foundation and the University of Maryland PDK Scholarship Fund.

Armed with an annotated map and a brochure on the Landmarks and Legacies of the College of Education, the walkers visited many of the sites on campus related to the history of the college, founded in 1920, and the University of Maryland, which is commemorating its 150th anniversary through September 2006.

Director of Alumni Relations Pat Costantino led the tour, stopping to describe points of interest during the two-mile walk. Participants kept their energy going with water, plus cookies and pastries provided by the Atlanta Bread Company.

The PDK Walk for Education raised $580. One of the chapter's goals is to expand public awareness and understanding about PDK programs and its scholarship fund.

Members of PDK also showed up in force on Nov. 17 to honor some of the college's distinguished alumni at the 2005 Alumni Awards Ceremony.
