What We Do.
Activities of the Mid-Atlantic Center engage university faculty, doctoral students, post-doctoral fellows, and school system leaders, in a collection of research, development, and teaching projects focused on:
- Preparation of elementary mathematics teachers;
- Preparation of high school mathematics teachers;
- Professional development and practice of K-12 mathematics teachers;
- The relationship between teacher knowledge and student mathematics achievement;
- Preparation of doctoral specialists in mathematics education;
- Development of a knowledge base for practice in mathematics teaching and teacher preparation.
The collaboration occurs through periodic working meetings, shared seminars and colloquia, and coordinated offering of doctoral courses for mathematics educators.
