How Can I See What Slides I Have Created?

There are many different methods for viewing the slides created for your presentation. Different versions of PowerPoint will have various shortcuts for viewing slides. We will discuss both PowerPoint 2000 and earlier versions and how to view created slides.

PowerPoint 2000 users will notice that their screen is divided into two separate sections. The section on the left will show a list of the slides that you have created. The section on the right will show the slide currently being worked on.

***Power Point 2000 users will also have the options that are listed below for earlier versions.***

Earlier versions of PowerPoint will need to switch back and forth from the various view screens. The lower left hand portion of the PowerPoint screen shows the following:

The numbers at right explain the functions of the 5 screen views we have labeled above. 1- Slide View - This shows the layout of the individual slide the user is working on.
2- Outline View - This shows the layout of the entire presentation. You will see the titles of the slides as well as an outline version of the content of the various slides.
3- Slide Sorter View - This screen will show you the actual image of each slide in smaller form. This is helpful for moving slides and checking whole layouts quickly.
4- Notes Page View- This allows you to type notes for each page for use during the presentation.
5- Slide Show View- This is a shortcut that will initiate the slide show for previewing.
