Deleting a Slide From Your Presentation

For this tutorial we have created three random slides labeled 1st slide through 3rd slide. These slides are listed at the left of the screen in the outline window. There are a few ways to delete a slide from your presentation.

These methods require you to view the slides in your presentation in the "Outline View" screen. For more on how to view the various slides in your presentation, go to our "Viewing Your Slides" Page.

The first method requires you to select that slide in the outline window as shown below. To select a slide you click once on the small image of a slide next to that slide's title.

To delete that slide you simply need to click on the "CUT" shortcut button on the toolbar near the top of your screen.

The second method for deleting a slide from your presentation requires the user to click on "Edit"  "Delete Slide" as shown below.
There is a third method that does not require you to use any of the menus. Simply highlight the slide you want to delete by clicking on it once in the left hand side of the screen for PowerPoint 2000 users (or in the "Outline View" for earlier versions), then hit your "DELETE" button on your keyboard.

***Note: These methods work for all recent versions of PowerPoint. This tutorial was created for PowerPoint 2000 and older versions will not have the same exact look as these screen shots show you. For more help on how to see your presentation in a number of differnet views, go to our "Viewing Your Slides" Page.
