Undergraduate Admissions Procedures
Undergraduate Admissions Procedures
Students contact the Department of Special Education
to obtain an application form.
Students must file the Application for Admission to
both the Department of Special Education and College of Education
by the stated deadline. Applications should be turned in to the Special
Education Undergraduate Advising Office (Rm. 1235, Benjamin Building).
Once semester grades are available, the Department of
Special Education screens all applicants for the following criteria:
A minimum 2.5 GPA
Completion of EDSP 210 with a
grade of C or better
Completion of 45 credit hours
including the freshman level fundamental studies and prerequisite
coursework indicated in the previous section
Passing Praxis I scores
Each application is reviewed by the Special Education
Department's Undergraduate Admissions and Retention Committee for
the appropriateness and clarity of the student's intentions and goals.
At the discretion of the department, a student may be requested to
complete a personal interview with a representative of the Admissions
Committee.
The Department of Special Education sends letters to
all program applicants informing them of their status.
