Severe Disabilities (including Autism)
Special Education


The doctoral program in Severe Disabilities Special Education is currently accepting applications to prepare individuals to assume leadership positions in universities, state and local agencies, policy organizations, and the federal government.

The doctoral program incorporates intensive coursework in the area of severe disabilities at the elementary and secondary level and related fields along with courses in research design and methodology.

Excellent opportunities for funding (tuition/stipends) are available for a limited number of individuals. Applications are accepted continuously.

Unique program components include:

red arrow Systematic, supervised research apprenticeships
red arrow College teaching apprenticeships
red arrow Skill development in areas of writing for funding, conference presentations and writing for professional publications
red arrow Professional internship that may include settings such as professional development schools, and local/state/federal agencies
red arrow Students participate with faculty in research colloquia
