General Overview

The Department of Special Education has an "open door" advising policy. There is always someone to talk to who has knowledge regarding University, College, and Department requirements. More importantly, there is always someone to listen to your concerns.

The advising structure for the Department of Special Education consists of three tiers which include a full-time program coordinator, peer advisors, and faculty advisors.  The three components of this advising system are discussed below.

Program Coordinator Roles

red arrow provides initial advising to students
red arrow supervise and coordinate peer advising program
red arrow monitor and track student progress
red arrow assist students experiencing academic difficulty
red arrow handle faculty advisor referrals
red arrow provide referrals to support services on campus

red arrow provide students with information on academic requirements of the Special Education program
red arrow assist students in planning their academic program
red arrow handle course registration and scheduling
