This program provides students from diverse backgrounds with the opportunity to examine the purposes of education and the roles that education plays in a democratic, pluralistic society. The dual emphasis on leadership and policy studies enables students to explore critical educational issues and to analyze how these issues are generated, how educational problems are framed, and how solutions are promulgated. Individual student programs are developed with a faculty advisor and approved by a program committee. Students choose from five areas of specialization:
