What's 'High Quality' About High Quality Teaching?
Interdisciplinary Perspectives on a National Debate

On September 21, 2004, CEPAL and the International Center for Transcultural Education co-sponsored a fall symposium, "What's 'High Quality' About High Quality Teaching? Interdisciplinary Perspectives on a National Debate," featuring presentations by Drs. Jacqueline Cossentino, Robert Croninger, Barbara Finkelstein, Wanjiru Kamau, Jennifer King Rice, and Linda Valli.

This was followed by a moderated discussion among presenters and audience members regarding the state of the field in educational research on high quality teaching and implications for practice in schools, school district central offices, state educational agencies, and higher education. The symposium was an excellent opportunity to bring together researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and students to discuss high quality teaching.
