There are several sources of
financial aid for graduate students in EDMS. The Department supports several graduate
assistantships that are awarded on a competitive basis. Typically, beginning assistants work
on a consultative/tutorial basis with non-majors who need help with course work. Later on,
assistants may have responsibility for instruction in undergraduate courses. In addition to
assistantships awarded through EDMS, the Department has been very successful in placing
students in other units throughout the University. Also, students have been successful in
obtaining fellowships from sources outside of the University. For example, students have been
supported by fellowships from Educational Testing Service (ETS). For more information, contact
the Chair: cdayton@umd.edu
Outside of the Department, there are other forms of
financial support through the University. All prospective students should check the Graduate
School website for information concerning fellowships and others forms of financial aid: Grad School
