Belinda Huang, a Doctoral student in the Higher Education, has two upcoming publications:

Toyia Younger, a Doctoral student in the Higher Education, was recently selected to serve on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice (JSARP). This a prestigious new journal dedicated to scholarship and innovation in student affairs. The vision of the Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice is to publish the most rigorous, relevant, and well-respected research that makes a difference in student affairs practice. Its first issue is to be published in March 2010.
Shaquana Anderson, a Doctoral student in the Higher Education, is the 2008 recipient of the Connie L. Cox Memorial Dissertation Fellowship. Ms. Anderson’s extensive knowledge of student development and leadership theory, along with her over six years of experience working with diverse student populations in higher education has provided her with the context to engage her dissertation research. Ms. Anderson’s dissertation, “Understanding the Mystery Behind the Magic: Examining College Culture within Urban High School” aims to examine school-based factors that enable low-SES African American high school students to aspire to academically ready to enter college. The Cox Dissertation Fellowship has allowed Ms. Anderson to conduct her rigorous qualitative study and alleviate the stress of the financial burden of being a full-time graduate student with a limited income.
Corbin Campbell, a Doctoral student in the Higher Education, recently published her study on college drinking in the Journal of College Student Development. The study was also prominently featured by Ohion State University Research News.
Charles Blake, a Master’s Student in the International Education Policy program, has been awarded the NSEP Boren Fellowship. The purpose of the fellowship is to provide funding for graduate students to study foreign language and area studies both domestically and abroad. Charles will be taking two intensive Arabic courses this summer at SAIS's summer language institute and will then be traveling to Cairo to work on a graduate certificate in Middle East Studies at the American University of Cairo. He will also continue the study of Arabic (MSA and Egyptian Colloquial).
Truphena Choti was awarded the American Association of University Women(AAUW) International Doctoral Fellow for the 2008-2009 year. The fellowship is awarded to International graduate women who have shown outstanding academic achievement and commitment to issues affecting women. Truphena was among the 74 selected recipients from 1,050 applicants to recieve the award. AAUW began awarding fellowships to women in 1888 and to date over $ 50 million has been awarded to outstanding women scholars from 135 countries. As an AAUW fellow, Truphena joins the ranks of women who are leaders and role models worldwide.
