The 2009 Rachel Petty Dissertation Awards were given to Cassandra Coddington and Nicole Denmark, 05/21/09

Each spring two outstanding Human Development students from the University of Maryland are awarded the Rachel Petty Dissertation Award. The 2009 recipients are Cassandra Coddington and Nicole Denmark.

Cassandra Coddington will be working on her dissertation entitled, "The Effect of Motivations that Affirm and Undermine Reading Achievement for Middle School Students"

Nicole Denmark will begin preliminary work on her dissertation research
