Christy Tirrell-Corbin, Ph.D.

Lecturer, Director of Undergraduate Early Childhood Education Program

Dr. Christy Tirrell-Corbin is Director of the Undergraduate Early Childhood Education Program and the College of Education Honors Program at the University of Maryland. She received her Ph.D. in Human Development from the University of Maryland. Dr. Tirrell-Corbin has 22 years experience in the field of teacher education and has also worked in parent education for the last 19 years. Formerly, she was Coordinator of a multi-site, dual school system Professional Development School Network that featured all aspects of the PDS model, with an emphasis on teacher inquiry into professional practice. She has also served as a curriculum developer, a content consultant for two PBS television shows, and was the founder and director of a parent resource center. She is best known for her work in the areas of teacher education, culture and community, as well as parent involvement in education.
