The Listening Project

______________________________________________________

The Listening Project The Listening Project is a research project based at the Laboratory of Developmental Assessment and Interventions of the University of Maryland's Institute for Child Study. Dr. Stephen Porges is Director of the laboratory. The Listening Project evaluates an acoustic intervention designed to improve the ability to listen and attend to human speech. Further, the intervention promotes social engagement behaviors in children with problems in social interaction and communication. The intervention is based on the Polyvagal Theory, a neurophysiological model developed by Dr. Porges to explain the neural basis for social communication behavior.
