| The intervention provides acoustic stimulation to children during a free-play condition. Social interactions during the intervention are used to promote a calm behavioral state. Acoustic stimulation is presented via headphones to stimulate the nervous system regulation of listening. The acoustic stimulation is computer generated and the dynamic frequency range is modulated across the primary frequencies associated with human voice. Metaphorically, the intervention is similar to a treadmill exercise in which the workload (i.e., the frequency band being processed) is progressively increased. This potent intervention requires only five one-hour sessions over five sequential days.
