Recap of SASP Events from 2008-09
SASP had a very busy Fall semester! Social events included a welcome lunch for the first year students, happy hour in DC, a pumpkin festival in MD, a UMD football game, and a holiday party in December! For professional development, we celebrated School Psychology Awareness Week and held a very informative Internship Panel with past and current interns.

On Legislative Day, students and Dr. Bill Strein met with state senators and delegates to discuss the role of school psychologists and to advocate for children and families in Maryland schools. We celebrated the start of the New Year and fourth years' completion of comps at our February happy hour. We also had a fun trip to the DC zoo followed by dinner in March. For our spring fundraiser, we had another successful bake sale!

We had a very successful and informative professional development workshop on crisis intervention led by Drs. Ridgely and Croft from Howard County Public Schools. In addition, we participated in the Hands on DC Work-a-Thon. We spent a day cleaning and refurbishing a local school. Our team--the highest fundraising team--also raised more than $2,000 for DC public schools!

Description of Executive Committee Elections
Membership in SASP-UMCP is open to all students in the School Psychology Program, including students who are post-internship but have not yet completed their dissertation or thesis. A student is no longer eligible for membership after program requirements have been completed.
Members are not required to join the American Psychological Association or APA's Division of School Psychology (Division 16). However, members interested in becoming associated with the national SASP organization are encouraged to join Division 16.
There are no permanent dues for membership in the chapter, though it may occasionally be necessary for the Executive Committee to collect dues from members in order to support chapter functions. In addition, there is no application process for membership in the chapter. Instead, all students enrolled in the School Psychology Program at UMCP are automatically considered members of SASP-UMCP.
