A
randomized controlled trial is being conducted in collaboration with
Anne Arundel County Public Schools to test the efficacy of a popular
elementary grades social and emotional competency program. This
experiment is funded by a $2.15 million grant from the Institute of
Education Sciences. Team members include principal investigator
Gary Gottfredson, Ph.D., postdoctoral fellow Amy Silverman, Ph.D., and
graduate students Elise Harak and Allison Nebbergall who are
responsible for the program efficacy research. Also utilizing
this data are William Strein, Ph.D., who is conducting research on the
development of student self-efficacy, and Joe Nese, a graduate
student investigating the development of student engagement.
Evaluation of
Instructional Consultation With
a $1.87 million grant from the institute of Education Sciences,
educational outcomes for students in schools implementing
Instructional Consultation Teams are being compared with outcomes for
students in randomly equivalent schools following usual and customary
practices. This rigorous evaluation is being conducted in
collaboration with Prince Williams County Public Schools.
Research team members include the principal investigator Sylvia
Rosenfield, Ph.D. and Gary Gottfredson, Ph.D., Todd Gravois, Ph.D.,
Amy Silverman, Ph.D., and graduate students Jessica Koehler, and Samantha Sedlik.
Evaluation of a
Large-Scale Tutoring Program
A Process and quasi-experimental outcome
evaluation of a large-scale tutoring program, which marshaled the
efforts of college and university students to assist urban students,
is being conducted to meet the needs of the school system to asses the
nature of efficacy of this ambitious program. Gary Gottfredson,
Ph.D., and graduate student Katie Sutton are completing the
evaluation. |
