Goals for Teachers (Master's Degree Students)
|
 |
Graduate students in the M. Ed. program take 36 credit hours in reading and related course work. These courses provide the student with foundational knowledge in reading theory, research and practice. The Summer Reading Program (SRP) comprises the final 6 credit hours of the M. Ed. program. The goal of the SRP for graduate students is to put theory and research understanding from course work into practice. During the six-week summer experience, graduate students teach small groups of children who have been identified as struggling readers. The diversity in the College Park area means that teachers have an opportunity to work with children from a variety of cultures and economic circumstances.
