Dr. Codling, a former elementary classroom teacher, is a clinical faculty member in the Reading Center in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction. In the graduate program, Dr. Codling teaches the four-course capstone sequence leading to a Master's Degree in Reading Education. This sequence consists of courses in advanced reading diagnosis and instruction. The final phase of the sequence consists of a six-week summer teaching experience. Dr. Codling serves as the Director of this Summer Reading Program. In the undergraduate program, Dr. Codling teaches reading assessment and reading instruction courses to students majoring in elementary education. Students in this program engage in year-long internships in a Prince George's County/University of Maryland Professional Development School. Dr. Codling serves as a liaison between the university and school system in this collaborative partnership.
