The Maryland Master's Certification Program (MMCP): Health
Clearance
All of the following information will be provided to you in the
fall, but it may be easier to deal with some requirements before
you start and find your time limited:
- Health Clearance: If you were born after 1957,
you must provide proof of measles (rubella) immunization. The
immunization must have been given after 1968, and a live virus
vaccine must have been used. If you were born after 1957 but
had the vaccine before 1968, or if you did not have the vaccine
but had the measles, you must have a Titer test. This blood
test, which indicates the presence of measles antibodies, is
available from the Campus Health Center, (301) 314-8180. Any
shots you may need can also be obtained in the Health Center
for a charge of about $10.00.
- Criminal Background Check: these checks are
required for all professional staff in the counties in which
student teachers are placed.
