Masters Certification Program (MCERT)
for Elementary & Secondary Education

Current Students: Fingerprinting Information: Prince George's County

All teacher interns, in paid or unpaid internships, who work in PGCPS must be fingerprinted and have a background check. The current cost is $61.25.  Payment can be Visa, Master, money order, cash, or your own personal check with the following conditions:

No third party checks will be accepted; the check must include your name and meet the above specifications.

Fingerprinting is done at the PGCPS main administration building (Sasscer Building):
14201 School Lane, Upper Marlboro, MD  20772
301-952-6775

Fingerprinting office hours:
Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 4 PM

You will need to bring a photo ID with you (driver’s license, passport, government issued photo ID).  Your college ID is not acceptable.

If you have been fingerprinted in Maryland within the last 6 months, this may suffice. Please call the fingerprinting office directly to discuss this.

You may call to make an appointment or go without an appointment and ‘wait your turn.’  In late June to early July, the office is not that busy and can probably process you rather quickly.  The office is much busier in late July and August.  You are advised to get your fingerprinting done as soon as possible.

After being fingerprinted, you will be issued a receipt.  Bring a copy of this receipt to your assigned school and give it to the school secretary on your first day. Be sure to delete your social security number for your protection. You must also submit a copy of this receipt to the Office of Student Services (1204 Benjamin) as well.  Keep the original in a safe place in case there is any question regarding your fingerprinting.

If you have anything in your background that is of concern to you and you wish to discuss this prior to the fingerprinting and background check, please contact Cheri Coffren who will assist you.  Ms. Coffren can be reached at the number above or at ccoffren@pgcps.org
