Dr. Schmidtlein interests include campus governance, planning and decisionmaking, and finance. Publications include-- "Why Linking Budgets to Plans Has Proven Difficult in Higher Education" and "Responses of American Research Universities to Issues Posed by the Changing Environment of Higher Education."
