Updates on Higher Education Fall 2012 Admission

Thank you for your interest in the University of Maryland. The specializations of College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, and International Education Policy are working together in the reorganization of the College of Education. All three specializations will continue to be offered. Specific information on reorganization and any curricular changes will be updated online, as decisions are made.  The College Student Personnel and Higher Education programs will be admitting students for Fall 2012 for the Master’s and Doctoral program. Admissions deadlines are as follows:

December 15, 2011: All applicants for Higher Education Administration and College Student Personnel.

The three specializations continue to be internationally recognized in their fields, and students and faculty work actively in national organizations, such as ACPA, AERA, ASHE, CIES, ILA and NASPA. We look forward to engaging our alumni networks, faculty, and students as we continue to grow. We are excited to welcome Dr. Julie Park to the faculty in the fall.

Update on International Education Policy Fall Admission

International Education Policy will not be accepting applications for Fall 2012.  Applications may resume Fall 2013.

Updates on Organizational Leadership & Policy Studies Fall 2011 Admission

Thank you for considering Maryland in your search for graduate schools!

After much consideration, the Organizational Leadership and Policy Studies, OLPS, area of specialization is suspending admissions for the 2011-2012 academic year.
Check back for updates later in the year.

The College of Education at the University of Maryland is currently restructuring. Part of that restructuring includes the merging of the Organizational Leadership and Policy Studies, area of specialization with the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, EDCI. While we regret we will miss welcoming new students into the  Education Leadership community this year, we believe that we will best serve students by taking this year to work together in creating a new and enhanced program. We are looking forward to the changes in store and believe we will be able to provide new opportunities for future students

Our Department offers Doctoral, Master's, and Certification Programs. Our program areas of specialization include higher education, international education, and organizational leadership studies.

Our faculty and students create a dynamic community of scholars and leaders. EDHI faculty consists of ten tenured and tenure-track professors, as well as two professors of the practice, and one visiting assistant professor. The students that make up our close-knit community bring a diverse set of experiences to our classrooms and programs, creating a true learning community of practice.

Our graduates are making a difference in the world. Students graduating from the Department go on to assume roles as school and district leaders, senior college administrators, and international education policy specialists working in local, state, national, and international contexts for schools, colleges, government agencies, foundations, non-profit organizations, major think tanks and international organizations.
