Human Development Undergraduate Program
The Department of Human Development provides different kinds of coursework and experiences for undergraduate students at Maryland. First, the department is the home of the developmentally focused Early Childhood Education teacher preparation program, which is a teacher certification program. Students receive their bachelor's degrees and certifications to teach young children. More information describes the mission of this program, its courses, and requirements.Second, the Department offers a variety of courses for undergraduate students from across campus. These courses focus on current research and theory about different aspects of development. One core course (EDHD 230) is available in the department.
Third, the Department offers a 15-course credit minor in human development that provides students with a background in research methods in the field, and knowledge about different aspects of development (cognitive, social, emotional, biological) as well as knowledge about development at different phases of the life span.
