Overview

The Center for Young Children is a laboratory school for the children of the University of Maryland faculty, staff and students. Located on the College Park Campus, this state of the art facility provides an environment which educates and cares for children in a developmentally appropriate manner. The CYC offers two camp programs for several weeks each summer.

The 2008 Summer Camp Program will run from June 23 through August 1, 2008.

Summer Camp Programs

Preschool Program

The Center for Young Children offers a summer camp program for children ages 3 to 5 (those entering kindergarten in Fall 2008). The program runs from 7:45 AM to 5:30 PM daily.

The program is based on the CYC's already exciting, hands-on curriculum, and is further expanded to include outdoor activities, music/movement, swimming trips to the Campus Recreation Center, and other stimulating on-campus trips.

Morning and afternoon snacks are provided as well as milk for lunch. Each room takes a nap from 1:00 to 3:00 PM daily.


School-Age Program

The CYC also offers a combined summer camp program for children completing kindergarten, first, second or third grade in the spring of 2008. This program runs from 7:45 AM to 5:30 PM daily.

This program includes all of the activities of the Preschool Program. In addition, children in this program participate in weekly campus field trips, cooking, swimming, sports and a music/movement program.  This program also includes two snacks per day and swimming costs.

 

Tuition Information

Preschool - Kindergarten Program

Flat Rate: The cost of camp is $1600.00 for all families. A $150.00 non-refundable deposit will be required with registration and will be applied to the cost of the summer camp tuition. The remainder is payable in two equal payments of $725.00, due by March 9 and May 11.

School-Age Program

Flat Rate: The cost of camp is $1750.00 for all families. A $150.00 non-refundable deposit will be required with registration and will be applied to the cost of the summer camp tuition. The remainder is payable in two equal payments of $800.00, due by March 9 and May 11.

Registration Information

Registration for the summer camp programs begins in early winter. It is open to the CYC community first and then opened to the local community in February.

To register a child parents must fill out a contract and enclose a nonrefundable $150.00 deposit that is applied to tuition to ensure a summer slot.
