Welcome!

Volcanoes!  What do you really know about them?  You are invited to take a journey into the mysterious world of volcanoes and investigate questions you might have about them (I have a few of my own for you to answer).  Don't worry if you have trouble getting answers to your questions, because when you have completed your quest you will have the opportunity to challenge a volcanologist!
Your Task!
You are to search this webquest for the answers to the questions on the Think Sheet.  You will also be expected to participate in a classroom discussion about your findings on volcanoes.

To find out more about how volcanoes destroy.
To find out more about volcano eruptions.
To see a recent erupting volcano.
Using the Webquest!
  1. Create groups of 2-3 students.
  2. In your groups, discuss what you already know about volcanoes.
  3. Construct a list of things you would like to know about volcanoes.
  4. Print the Think Sheet and Vocabulary Page for you convenience in answering the questions.
  5. Progress through the Webquest at your pace searching for the answers to all questions.
  6. To proceed to the following page, click on "NEXT PAGE" at the bottom of the page.
  7. To go back to a previous page, click on the "BACK" icon at the top of the page.
  8. At anytime you can return to the first page by clicking on "HOME PAGE".
  9. Be prepared to discuss your groups findings with the entire class, so be as accurate and thorough as you can.

Evaluation!
Your group will receive an letter grade based on the quality and thoroughness of your answers on the Think Sheet.  You will also receive an individual grade of "Outstanding, Satisfactory, or Unsatisfactory" based on your participation in our classroom discussion.  Have fun and do your best!
Conclusion!
By the end of your journey, you will have discovered new and interesting information about volcanoes.  You can use this new knowledge to formulate additional questions you may now have about other aspects of volcanoes.  By researching the additional web sites provided for you, try to satisfy you curiosities.  But remember, the volcanologist is always available to help!
