It is a publication for preservice and secondary education teachers that exists as a series of World Wide Web documents. Anyone is welcome to use these resources as long as they indicate that the article or lesson plan is a part of Teacher Talk which belongs to Indiana University.

This web site is designed by IAC, Information Age Consultants.  They are a company which holds workshops and trains people on how to use the internet.  This link offers sample workshop outlines and a link.  It is helpful to a teacher because there is a link called favorite web links which is updated monthly.  This link provides links for K-12 resources.

This wesite is devoted to helping teachers teach computers in the classroom.  This website is very useful because it gives you such great information such as lessons, Internet projects, how to use the Wed in the classroom, an introduction to student Internet Research and much more.  Teachers and students may be unfamiliar with using the Internet, so this is a great way to learn.

The Web Teacher

This web site is a tutorial which teaches people specifically teachers about using the internet and the various sections of the web that can be explored.  It includes 19 different subject areas which are then broken down even further.  These areas include chat groups, mail lists, newsgroups, different files (sound, movies), web browser and internet addresses.  It explains in great detail about many parts of the web and how to access and use them correctly.  This is a great page for teachers who are interested in learning and using the web effectively. This page was created by NCTA (National Cable Television Association) and Tech Corps.

Teacher Talk is published by the center for Adolescent Studies at the School of Education, Indiana University.  This website is directed mainly at college students who plan on pursuing a career in teaching but a lot of the information presented can be used by any teacher.  The site is broken down into three volumes and their are three issues within each volume.  A great diversity of topics are covered throughout the website.  Some of these include classroom management styles, student teaching, and organization.  This variety of topics can aid teachers with many problems that may arise in their classroom.  Teachers can read up on many issues such as cultural diversity, mental health issues, and alcoholism to name a few that are prevalent in today’s society.

    This site is useful for educational resources in Maryland for teachers. This site is also good for people just moving into Maryland with children who have to enter the public school system.  The site is can be broken down by what you are interested in whether it is by k- 12, county, or Board of Education.  Under each one of these there are links to other sites, specific policies of each school system, staff develpoment, school system calender, parent information, and bus information.  The vision, mission, and goals of each school system are stated.  For teachers there is an employment opportunity site which breakes down positions avalible, applications, a salary scale, and facts.

Teacher Net  provides a "Teacher-2-Teacher" Mailing List, where they can discuss specific questions and issues with other professionals in the field.  Teacher Net also offers a free newsletter to those who log on.  There is a prompt to view lesson plans, as well as, a prompt to view additional resources and related links. Helpful to Teachers:  This site could be used by anyone who is in the field of education or by someone who is interested in going into the field.  This site provides a mailing list of teachers nation wide.  This resource can be extremely valuable for suggestions and comments from those who encounter similar problems.  This site provides up to date information about issues in education and offers links to related sites and resources.

This site offers strategies and examples for teachers who would like to use the web to support instruction.  The information on the page is very detailed and provides lots of links to further information on terms.  It has quite a few pictures and diagrams.  It seems to be designed for beginners, which is good for the teachers who are just learning to use the web as a resource themselves.

This site links educators to educational resources and information.  The "hot lists" has a staff development resources site that has a lot of links to resource sites for teachers.  One of the sites provide a tutorial sites to integrating the Web into curriculum(http://www.ala.org/ICONN/).  Another site provide links to workshops for Internet training and how to use Excel (http://www.clarkston.K12.mi.us/mccartj/graduate_workshops.html).  Also, another link site show teachers how to use HTML, Windows 3.1, DOS, Websites and Paintshop Pro (http://www.fred.net/nhhs/lessons/ca.htm).

Teacher's Edition Online is a wonderful site for teachers. 1200 educators subscribe to Teacher's Edition Online so that they can exchange ideas from decorating a classroom to lesson plans. There are approximately 20-40 messages added everyday. If a teacher is unsure about how to make a dull classroom into an exciting one, there are many ideas on this website. Teachers can find out how to build a classroom pond or get ideas for room themes. Lesson ideas are also a big part of this site. There are lesson plans for almost every subject and grade level. There is also a link for teachers where they can find books, magazines, hardware, software, and toys at a discounted price. The best attribute of this page for future teachers is a section for creating a professional portfolio and preparing for a job interview.

Brainstation.Com is a great site for educators to visit. It not only is a resource for teachers, but it is also a great resource for parents and students. It has various different programs that teachers can download for free that will help them in thier classrooms. Some of the downloads include: a to do list maker, a test creator, and grade book programs. This site, also, offers a list of 50 other resource sites for teachers that range from organizations for teachers to newsletters. As one can see, this site offers a variety of free programs for teachers, but it also provides them with links that are helpful for teachers, too. 
 

Computer Education Online

This is a site that helps educators learn how to create web sites.  Also, there are many links for teachers to help them in their classrooms in regards to using computers. There is also a Page Design class as well as advanced computer applications.  These are all great applications for teachers to use in gaining knowledge of computers in reference to their classrooms and instructions.  I would need to visit each and every site in this to know how to use computers properly.

This site offers the teacher important tips on using a computer in their classroom.  Included in these tips are, "Software for classroom use, Issues regarding computers in schools, Uses for older computers, Using the Internet in the classroom, Teacher uses of computers, and Links to other useful places".  These tips guide teachers into the useful ways a computer could be used in the classroom.  It offers them many outlets as to where to turn if in need of information or help as well.

This particular website is filled with books with useful information on teaching.  The website includes books on how to integrate the computer into teaching.  So if a teacher is looking for a way to integrate science into a computer lesson, then he or she can go to this website and find a book that contains this information.  This can help me in my professional development because I am interested in teaching math.  I do not know of many ways to integrate computers into a math lesson.  So finding a book at this website to help me out would be very useful.
