A Successful Giving Day 2017 for the UMD College of Education

COLLEGE PARK, MD (March, 2017) – On Giving Day 2017, a one-day fundraising challenge hosted by the University of Maryland, the College of Education raised $37,988 from 132 gifts to support the College’s students and programs. A great fundraising success, the College placed fifth in dollars earned amongst all the colleges, schools and units.

Held on March 8, 2017, the University of Maryland raised a total of $2,226,934 through 6,355 gifts, a new Giving Day record.

Giving Day 2017 College of Education highlights:

  • COE donations increased by 861% over last year (from $3,955 to $37,988).
  • With 132 gifts, the number of gifts COE received increased by 161% relative to 2016.
  • An increase in COE faculty and staff participation.

The College of Education’s Board of Visitors played a significant role in the success of Giving Day 2017, as did the generosity of the Clarvit family. Additionally, by exceeding the College’s previous records for dollars earned and number of gifts, COE will receive a portion of prize money generously provided by Michael and Debbie Schwab & Family.
