As of July 1st the Counseling and Personnel Services Department (CAPS, EDCP) merged with two other departments (Education Leadership, Higher Education and International Education (EDHI) and Special Education (EDSP)) to form the new Department of Counseling, Higher Education, and Special Education (CHSE).
The graduate specialty areas that were included in the CAPS Department remain in place under the new Department. Masters degree specialty areas include: College Student Personnel, and School Counseling. Ph.D. specialty areas include: College Student Personnel Administration, Counseling Psychology (joint with the Psychology Department), Counselor Education, and School Psychology. You may continue to use this website to access information about these degree areas. A completely new website is being developed for the new Department. The link for this current website (www.education.umd.edu/edcp) will include an automatic forwarding to the new website once the new site is developed.
